Consultant: Carl Evans
Carl has more than 16 years experience delivering core business applications within various industry sectors. He has in the recent past held an IT management position at the BBC which involved the management of a team of 20 technical consultants with a diverse set of skills (such as, Unix, Windows NT, SQL Server, Oracle, Informix, Delphi, Java, Web, etc).
Carl currently manages JADe's overall operation but maintains his IT involvement via short-term consultancy and project management assignments for clients.
Carl's recent consultancy experience includes:-
- Currently providing project management expertise for JADe's project team in the delivery of a centralised marketing database system for a major charity.
- Provision of a Programme Management service to ActionAid with the primary aim of reviewing the current working practices and understanding future business requirements. A report itemising both tactical & strategic recommendations was produced, based on the need for global web communications.
- Operations Manager within BBC Broadcast responsible for the operation & maintenance of a diverse set of systems & technologies. This included scheduling, commissioning, audience research & playout systems; and incorporated technologies such as Informix, Oracle, SQL Server, Java, Delphi.
- Ensured the successful planning, configuration, testing and implementation of a suite of tools for Marconi as part of the Jubilee Line extension project. The tools were implemented using Informix IDS, Hyperscript and Solaris.
- Planned, developed & implemented a set of customised reports for Lovells for their Elite billing system. This involved liaison with the key business users and the Lovells IT team to ensure the successful delivery of these complex reports. The reports were developed in Informix technologies on an HPUX platform.
- Key involvement in the implementation of a web-based application server for ActionAid to handle their sponsorship communication. The server consisted of a Sun E450 running Solaris and various software components (Oracle, Apache, JRun, JReports).
